The links below are to personal projects that I initiated or maintained but am no longer involved with on a regular basis.
Lua Plug-in For Visual Studio: A language plug-in for MS Visual Studio that provides syntax highlighting, code folding and Lua project integration. This was the project mainly responsible for my renewed interest in theoretical computer science and kicked off a series of endeavors that led to my interest in cognitive science. This was the most rewarding project I’ve worked on, personally or professionally, and it received some attention among the Lua community. Although some features were never evolved to the point I thought possible, it was certainly brought to the level of practical use.
Graphics Engine: For a period of time I was interested in obtaining a game development position and was taking classes in game developement. During this period I wrote several demos using a small generalized engine I had developed in C++. The engine was more of an exercise in advanced development methods than game programming as I spent far more time deciding how to structure the code than focusing on game specific problems. I still have some interest in game development but am skeptical that I’d be happy doing it in a corporate environment with the interests and motivations inherent there.
